A major milestone was achieved as our first grant bid was submitted last week. It followed weeks of research, data collection, and slow refinement, leading to a proposal that captures the collective effort and ambition of our team. We anticipate hearing back.
This submission marks the beginning of the next phase of our work; we now turn our attention to the numerous challenges, upcoming publications, and emerging opportunities within reach and ready for us to pursue.
Our network continues to grow steadily, with new connections emerging across the world and especially in London. The alignment across teams and focus areas creates a strong sense of direction that we will carry forward into this new month.
Product Track
Work last week centred on refining the development framework and clarifying each step ahead. The team explored multiple design options for material assembly, emphasising scalability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Several pivotal technical decisions were made, defining the machinery and substrates required once lab operations begin and establishing a clear, structured path for continued progress.
The Iterations Board will be regularly updated on the website throughout this week, providing transparency into our ongoing development, decisions, and progress.

Team and Media
The team has come a long way in just a few weeks. What began as an open question of how we’d work together has now turned into a strong, coordinated rhythm, clear roles, shared focus, and real progress. Everyone contributed to moving key projects forward: from design work and frequency modelling to final touches on the grant bid. With clear communication, aligned goals, and no blockers in sight, KCM’s rhythm feels solid and confident as we head into November.
Our new KCM 2025 video is complete and live on our website + LinkedIn. The video marks a big step in how we share our story: clear, visual, and accessible to a wider audience. The rollout starts this week across our social channels, setting the tone for how KCM presents itself in the year ahead.
