Power Up
Last time, we wrote about whether structure could finally catch up to traction. This week, the answer is: step by step.
The UK Round is still being finalized in lightspeed, whereas our US branch is still waiting for our partners at Squarespace to process our SSL certificate, exciting. Important actions are still being sequenced carefully, and we are still choosing order over noise. Progress is not absent because some signals are held back. It is simply being arranged in the right order. Power is not the same as posture. But the system keeps charging.
Structure
The general direction is now set: KCM UK continues as the civilian, academic, and pilot-facing structure, while the US entity develops as a separate and semi-autonomous operational route.
That separation matters. Civilian industry and military industry should not be mixed beyond genuine dual-use benefits. Material science benefits from data across many test environments, but the operating structures around those environments must remain clear to respect ethics, export controls, and common sense. We don’t want any Iron Man I awakenings.
Major round finalization remains underway. Accounts remain tied to proper structural booking, because the books should reflect the company we are actually becoming.
Location
While we aim to complete the new lease shortly, we also gauge at potential production sites in tandem with our partners. With us in the UK and abroad for our pilots.
Grant Tracks
The Round 12 direction remains the best route to structure, regardless if the call is made: more time, better scoping, stronger partners, less artificial urgency. The longer runway gives the consortium space to build something that survives scrutiny beyond a deadline.
We are also watching the wider UK innovation ecosystem closely, including the Cross-Sector Battery Showcase in Leicester on June 18th, where battery systems, aerospace, defence, energy, maritime, investment, and deployment logic continue to converge.
Product Track
The Mk-X roadmap remains under refinement, and the technical lane is not idle. We are happy to support our material experts. The recent review of piezoelectric control-circuitry insights from the past continues to clarify useful constraints around charge capture, regulation, and MVP sprint optimization.
Operations
The May 26 stakeholder meeting gave direction; execution now has to follow. The round is moving, the accounts are being held for proper structural booking, the UK route remains active, the US route is preparing, and people-first obligations remain the priority. If funds move cleanly, the sequence remains direct: Accounts, contracts and structure, lease and project execution + roadmap and valuation.
If the route needs to narrow, we will narrow it cleanly rather than stretch the company beyond the structure that can responsibly support it.
Travel & Events
The public map continues to widen while the internal work remains concentrated.
We are evaluating insights from TechEx North America in San Jose and look forward to appearing in person at TechEx Europe in Amsterdam later this year. Pilot-Site visit and India-Partner meeting at the end of July remains on track. Registration is also pending for the Regulatory Science and Innovation Summit 2026 on June 18th. We were invited to the Innovator Awards 2026 at Drapers’ Hall, and Business Innovation Expo has kept the door open for next year after our communication line finally escaped spam-folder purgatory.
Outlook
The next update will follow in the middle of June.
Until then, the focus is clear:
finish the round
settle leftovers
publish accounts
refine the Mk-X roadmap
Step by step.
